About This Event

Kalasadhana & Karkala Sangeetha Mahotsav 2026, held on 28 February, presented a curated evening of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music across multiple sessions.

Kalasadhana & Karkala Sangeetha Mahotsav 2026, held on 28 February, presented a curated evening of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music across multiple sessions.

The program opened with a Carnatic vocal presentation by students of Vidvan Venkatesh Chiplunkar. The main Carnatic segment featured a vocal duet by the ChilKunda Sisters, Vidushi Lakshmi Nagaraj and Vidushi Indu Nagaraj, presented as part of the Late A. Narayana Hegde and A. Kasturi Hegde Memorial Concert. They were accompanied by Vid. Dehli Shridhar on violin, Vid. Nikshith Puttur on mridangam, and Vid. Bengaluru Rajashekar on morsing.

The concluding session, under the Late Maya V. Shenoy Memorial, featured a Hindustani instrumental jugalbandi by the Mishra Brothers (Kashi). The ensemble included Dr. Ankur Mishra on sitar, Dr. Abhishek Mishra on tabla, and Dr. Prashant Mishra on violin.

The event brought together established and emerging artists, presenting both Carnatic and Hindustani traditions within a single festival format.

Ankur Mishra is a Banaras Gharana sitar artist trained under Pt. Birendra Nath Mishra. An A Grade AIR artist, he holds a PhD in Sitar from BHU and performs across Indian classical music platforms.

Carnatic morsing artist Rajashekar Bhimachar from Karnataka is famed for his rhythmic "Sound Rajashekar" style and performances at Yakutia & Amsterdam festivals.

Indu Nagaraj is a Kannada playback singer known for Carnatic and film music. A Filmfare Award winner for “Pyarge Aagbittaite,” she has worked with leading composers in South Indian cinema.

Lakshmi Nataraj is a Carnatic vocalist and Kannada playback singer, known as part of the Chilkunda Sisters. A Karnataka State Film Award winner, she performs classical, devotional, and film music.
