About
Biography
Delhi R. Sridhar began his musical training at the age of six under Shri V. S. K. Chakrapani and Smt. Akhila Krishnan. Over the years, he developed a performance style that balances classical rigor with interpretive freshness, earning him recognition as a “thinking musician” within Carnatic circles.
He has appeared as a soloist on international stages, including a noted performance in Italy in his early twenties, and has accompanied senior artists such as Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. His national recognition includes the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, awarded by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, making him the first Carnatic violinist from Delhi to receive this honor. Earlier, he was also a recipient of the Junior Scholarship from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in 1999.
Alongside performance, Sridhar is actively engaged in teaching. He mentors students, several of whom have gone on to receive national scholarships. Through the Kal-Aakaar Collective, he offers structured Carnatic violin training aimed at long-term artistic development. He also works regularly with SPIC MACAY, presenting concerts and conducting workshops in schools and colleges to introduce young audiences to Indian classical music.
