Rajashekar Bhimachar

Rajashekar Bhimachar (born January 10, 1961) is a Carnatic classical musician and a noted exponent of the morsing, associated with the “Morsing family of Karnataka.” He initially trained in vocal music and violin under the guidance of his father, L. Bhimachar, before specializing in the morsing.

Known as “Sound Rajashekar,” he is recognized for his ability to produce tonal and rhythmic variations on the instrument, including imitative sound patterns. His performances have been presented on international platforms, including the International Jewish Harp Festival in Amsterdam, and he has been honored as a Khomus Virtuoso of the World in Yakutia, Russia.

He is part of a multi-generational musical lineage, with his father, L. Bhimachar, being among the early morsing artists featured on All India Radio, and his sister, Bhagyalakshmi M. Krishna, noted as a morsing performer. The family has also presented ensemble performances under the name “Morsing Tarang,” combining multiple morsings with mridangam.
