The Bhavan UK will present a sitar concert under its Sangeet – Nritya Utsav 2026 series on 21 March 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:15 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London. The evening centres on the sitar artistry and pedagogical legacy of Smt. Punita Gupta.
A senior disciple of Bharat Ratna Ravi Shankar, Punita Gupta has dedicated her career to performance and teaching, contributing significantly to the dissemination of Hindustani classical music in the UK. This concert recognises her long-standing association with The Bhavan and her role in training the next generation of sitar players.
The programme features sitar performances by Punita Gupta along with selected presentations by her students, reflecting the continuity of the guru–shishya parampara.
She will be joined by accompanying artists Rikhil Rai on flute, Khetan Bidwe on tabla, and M. Balachandar on mridangam, bringing together melodic and rhythmic support across Hindustani and Carnatic instruments.
Refreshments are scheduled from 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm ahead of the concert. The event is part of The Bhavan’s ongoing festival programming dedicated to Indian classical music and dance.
