NCPA HSBC Bandish 2026 – Day 2: Hariharan Ghazal Concert Live in Mumbai

NCPA HSBC Bandish – Day 2 is presented by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) with the support of HSBC India at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Mumbai. The second evening of the three-day festival is dedicated to the rich tradition of the Urdu ghazal, featuring vocalist Hariharan in a programme that pays tribute to some of the genre's most influential composers.

Trained in both Hindustani and Carnatic music, Hariharan has built a distinguished career spanning Indian classical music, ghazals, film music, and cross-cultural collaborations. For this presentation, he performs selected ghazal compositions by Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Qadir Khan, and Nazar Hussain, exploring the melodic, poetic, and expressive traditions that have shaped the modern ghazal repertoire.

Hariharan is accompanied by Satyajeet S. S. on harmonium, Shahdaab Roshan Bhartiya on tabla and djembe, Zoheb Khan on keyboard, Dhiren Raichura on guitar, and Liyakat Ali Khan on sarangi. Together, the ensemble presents an evening that combines traditional accompaniment with contemporary concert presentation while preserving the essence of the ghazal form.

Day 2 of NCPA HSBC Bandish highlights the contribution of legendary ghazal composers and performers through a curated recital by one of India's leading vocalists. The programme reflects the festival's objective of celebrating India's musical heritage by presenting compositions that continue to influence audiences and performers across generations.
