Day 2 of the 55th All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya & Sangeet Sammelan presents an evening of Hindustani classical music and Odissi dance at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.
The program features a sitar recital by Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee, accompanied on tabla by Pandit Satyajit Talwalkar. Known for his distinctive style and deep engagement with raga, Purbayan Chatterjee represents a contemporary voice rooted in tradition, while Satyajit Talwalkar brings refined rhythmic accompaniment.
The evening continues with an Odissi dance performance by Guru Sharmila Biswas and her troupe. A leading exponent of Odissi, Sharmila Biswas is recognized for her work in choreography and research, presenting compositions that draw from traditional sources and performance practices of Odisha.
Organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra, the Sammelan remains one of India’s longstanding platforms for classical music and dance, bringing together established artists and audiences in a curated festival setting.
