Anēka Dance Festival – Edition II is a Bharatanatyam dance festival presented by the Kalaavidya Foundation, scheduled for 22 March 2026 at Penfold Theatre in Austin, Texas. The event brings together classical dancers presenting original choreographic works within the Bharatanatyam tradition, offering audiences an afternoon of thematic dance theatre and contemporary interpretations of classical ideas.

The program features “Virodhabhasa—The Paradox,” an original work by Navia Natarajan, which explores the philosophical concept of paradox inspired by ideas such as the Buddhist Heart Sutra’s reflection on the relationship between form and emptiness. The choreography investigates emotional and philosophical contrasts, examining how opposing experiences—such as grief and peace—can coexist and shape human understanding.

The festival also includes “Prabhodhan—An Awakening,” a Bharatanatyam production by Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya, known for her work combining classical technique with thematic storytelling. Presented as a double-bill performance, the event highlights two distinct choreographic perspectives within Bharatanatyam while showcasing artists active in the global Indian classical dance community. Hosted at Penfold Theatre, the festival continues Kalaavidya Foundation’s efforts to present Indian classical arts within the cultural landscape of Austin.
