About GD Birla Sabhaghar
Ghanshyam Das Birla Sabhagar is one of Kolkata’s well-recognized auditoriums, combining heritage architecture with functional modern facilities. Situated under the iconic Radha Krishna Mandir, the venue was initially created to host religious and philosophical discussions but has gradually expanded its role to become a vibrant cultural hub. Today, it presents a broad spectrum of programs, including classical and contemporary music concerts, dance recitals, theater performances, and intellectual lectures.
The main auditorium has a seating capacity of 665 and is equipped with high-quality acoustics, full air conditioning, comfortable push-back seating, four green rooms, a dedicated music room, and a spacious foyer. These features make it suitable not only for cultural events but also for corporate functions such as annual general meetings, conferences, and product launches, as well as school programs.
In addition to the main hall, the Sabhagar houses a library space designed for workshops and seminars, accommodating up to 40 people and featuring a collection of philosophical and religious literature. An accessible box seating area on the ground floor ensures ease of access for visitors with mobility concerns. Managed under the guidance of Shrimati Nandini Nopany, GD Birla Sabhagar continues to play an important role in promoting cultural dialogue and artistic expression in Kolkata.
