Symphony of Santoor is a large-format musical production conceptualized and led by Rahul Shivkumar Sharma, presenting the santoor in an expansive symphonic format. The project positions one of India’s most respected classical instruments within a contemporary orchestral setting, combining Indian classical depth with modern symphonic arrangements.
Rahul Shivkumar Sharma has collaborated internationally with Grammy-winning and global artists such as Kenny G, Deep Forest, and Richard Clayderman, and has contributed to more than 75 albums. In this production, his santoor takes centre stage in a format designed for large concert halls.
The performance features a 35-member international chamber orchestra accompanying the 100-stringed instrument, creating a multi-genre soundscape that touches Indian classical, Western classical, jazz, and familiar melodic themes from film music. The orchestra is conducted by Samuel Tamarit Otero of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice.
