As part of Darbar Festival 2026, Midnight Ragas presents an extraordinary meeting of two of India's most celebrated classical musicians. Taking place in the unique atmosphere of a late-night concert, this special performance unites the expressive power of Hindustani violin and the timeless resonance of the Carnatic veena in a remarkable musical dialogue.
Renowned violin maestro Kala Ramnath brings her distinctive approach to Hindustani classical music, known for its lyrical depth, emotional subtlety, and intricate raga exploration. Joining her is acclaimed veena virtuoso Jayanthi Kumaresh, one of the foremost ambassadors of the Carnatic tradition, whose artistry has helped introduce the Saraswati veena to audiences worldwide.
Together, the artists engage in a dynamic jugalbandi, an improvisational format that allows musicians from different traditions to converse through melody, rhythm, and spontaneous creativity. Supporting this unique collaboration are two distinguished percussionists: Sukhvinder Singh Pinky on tabla and Sai Giridhar on mridangam, representing the rhythmic traditions of North and South Indian classical music respectively.
Bridging two of India's great classical systems, Midnight Ragas offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience an immersive exchange of musical ideas, traditions, and improvisational artistry in a concert designed for deep listening and discovery.
