The Masterclass with Flute J.A. Jayant offers an exceptional opportunity for students, musicians, and enthusiasts to engage closely with one of the leading exponents of contemporary Carnatic flute music. Presented by the Cambridge University Indian Classical Music Society, the session will be held at Lucy Cavendish College and promises an insightful exploration of the artistry, technique, and musical philosophy behind the Carnatic flute tradition. 

Led by acclaimed flautist J. A. Jayant, the masterclass will delve into key aspects of performance including tone production, breath control, improvisation, raga interpretation, and the nuances of accompaniment in South Indian classical music. Participants will gain valuable insights into the creative and technical dimensions of flute playing through demonstrations, discussions, and interactive learning. 

The session will be enriched by the presence of R. N. Prakash, whose accompaniment will provide additional perspective on the collaborative nature of Carnatic performance. Designed for both aspiring musicians and seasoned listeners, the masterclass offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from accomplished artists while experiencing the depth and sophistication of India's classical music traditions in an academic setting.
