Presented as part of Darbar Festival 2026, The Genius of Sandeep Narayan celebrates one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Carnatic music. Born and raised in California before pursuing advanced training in Chennai, Sandeep Narayan has earned international recognition for combining rigorous classical musicianship with an engaging, expressive performance style rooted in South Indian tradition.
This concert follows the format of a traditional Carnatic kacheri, offering audiences an immersive exploration of raga, rhythm, and improvisation. Through a carefully curated repertoire featuring compositions, manodharma elements, niraval, kalpana swaras, and expansive raga development, the performance highlights the depth and sophistication of the Carnatic classical tradition.
Joining Sandeep Narayan on stage are distinguished accompanists B. Anantha Krishnan (Violin), Sai Giridhar (Mridangam), and Vazhappally Krishnakumar (Ghatam). Together, they create a vibrant musical dialogue that showcases the collaborative artistry and improvisational brilliance central to Carnatic music.
