Biography
Kaushiki Chakraborty is one of India's foremost Hindustani classical vocalists and a distinguished exponent of the Patiala Gharana. Trained by her father and guru, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, she also studied Carnatic music under Dr M. Balamuralikrishna, developing a repertoire spanning khayal, thumri, dadra, bhajan, and other semi-classical forms. A recipient of the BBC Radio 3 Award, the Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskar, and the Nari Shakti Puraskar, she performs extensively at leading Indian and international music festivals. Through initiatives such as Sakhi, an all-women classical ensemble, and collaborative projects including Pankh, she continues to expand the reach of Indian classical music while remaining deeply rooted in the guru-shishya tradition.
