Dnyaneshwar Sonawane

Dnyaneshwar Uttam Sonawane is an Indian harmonium player known for his work as both a soloist and an accompanist in Hindustani classical music. His musical interest began early, leading him to formal training in harmonium from a young age.

He started his training in Nashik under Bapu Kulkarni, where he spent several years developing foundational technique and understanding the gayaki-oriented approach to raga music. This period established his grounding in the harmonium as a melodic and supportive instrument.

He later moved to Mumbai for advanced guidance under Sudhir Nayak, an internationally recognized harmonium exponent. Under this mentorship, he focused on the nuances of accompaniment—such as sensitivity to vocal phrasing, raga aesthetics, and tonal balance—alongside developing his solo presentation skills.

Over time, he has built experience accompanying vocalists in classical and semi-classical formats. His collaborations include work with artists such as Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, Aditya Khandwe, Vinayak Torvi, and Rutuja Lad. His accompaniment spans khayal, devotional forms, dadra, and seasonal compositions such as the Holi repertoire.

He has received recognition and awards in music competitions and has traveled for performances in different concert settings. He is also a regular participant at platforms such as the Aundh Sangeet Mahotsav, where he has appeared in recent editions of the festival.
