About Reflections

Reflections is a studio album by Indian sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar. Deutsche Grammophon released the album on March 8, 2019. The album contains fifteen tracks that blend Indian classical music with flamenco, electronic, and ambient influences.

Anoushka Shankar composed and performed the majority of the album. The tracklist includes The Sun Won’t Set, Buleria Con Ricardo, Remain the Sea, Lasya, and Land of Gold. The album also features Guru: Raga Jogeshwari - Jod, Jhala, a traditional raga performance dedicated to her father and guru, Ravi Shankar. Additional tracks include Si No Puedo Verla, Voice of the Moon, Flight, and Burn.

The album incorporates collaborations with multiple artists. Ricardo Miño contributes flamenco guitar on Buleria Con Ricardo. Manoj George plays violin on several tracks, while Manu Delago performs hang drum and percussion. Alev Lenz provides vocals on The Sun Won’t Set and Voice of the Moon. The London Symphony Orchestra appears on Land of Gold and Flight, conducted by Jules Buckley.

Anoushka Shankar produced Reflections alongside co-producers Nicki Wells and Duncan Bridgeman. The album was recorded at multiple studios, including Abbey Road Studios in London and Eastcote Studios. The mixing process took place at Eastcote Studios, with additional engineering by Lewis Jones and Oli Langford.

The album received attention for its fusion of genres and Shankar’s exploration of contemporary themes. Reflections marks Shankar’s continued expansion beyond traditional Indian classical music into experimental and cross-cultural compositions.
