Tabla in Sur Samay Yaan at Kalidas Ka Kathayatra: Ujith Udayakumar

Kalidas Ka Kathayatra—The Great Indian Storytelling Festival will include a special segment titled Sur Samay Yaan on 8 February 2026 from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Purana Qila.

The presentation features tabla artist Ujith Udayakumar, who will perform as part of the festival’s classical music programming. Known for his work in the Hindustani percussion tradition, Ujith Udayakumar represents a younger generation of tabla performers engaging with interdisciplinary formats.

Sur Samay Yaan is designed and narrated by noted santoor exponent Abhay Sopori, who has conceptualized the segment to connect narrative traditions with classical soundscapes. The format aligns with the festival’s focus on Indian storytelling, literature, and performing arts.
