Yati Bhagwat

Yati Bhagwat is an Indian Hindustani classical tabla player whose training spans multiple gharana traditions. He began learning tabla under Amit Patkar of the Ajrada gharana, where he built his early foundation in traditional repertoire and technique.

He later continued advanced study under Pandit Suryaksha Deshpande, a senior disciple of Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar. Under this guidance, he developed further command over Farrukhabad and Delhi gharana styles, broadening his approach to accompaniment and solo playing.

Academically, he completed a master’s degree in music and secured a gold medal in his examinations, reflecting formal as well as practical engagement with the art form. He holds an ‘A’ grade from All India Radio, a recognition that places him among professionally assessed broadcast artists.

As an accompanist, he has performed with several senior musicians. These include vocalists such as Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, Dhondutai Kulkarni, and Padma Talwalkar, as well as instrumentalists like Ronu Majumdar. His work in accompaniment highlights attentive listening, tonal clarity, and adaptability to different musical settings.

He is also associated with collaborative and contemporary formats. He is a member of the fusion-oriented group Rang Gandhar, working with artists such as Gandhar Deshpande and Shikhar Naad Qureshi.

On the personal front, he is married to Deepika Bhide Bhagwat, a vocalist of the Jaipur–Atrauli gharana. The two have appeared together in concert settings, including baithak-style programs.
