Soumyajyoti Ghosh

Soumyajyoti Ghosh is an Indian classical flautist (bansuri player) associated with the Hindustani classical music tradition and serves as a senior staff artist at All India Radio. Known for his refined technique and expressive tonal quality, he has established himself as a prominent performer of the bansuri. His performances present traditional raga-based interpretations while also exploring contemporary and experimental musical formats.

He is a senior disciple of renowned bansuri maestro Pandit Ronu Majumdar, whose guidance has been central to his musical development. He has also received musical inspiration and mentorship from Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, which has influenced the depth and emotive character of his performances. His repertoire includes Hindustani classical ragas, semi-classical compositions, devotional music such as bhajans, and fusion-oriented works.

Soumyajyoti Ghosh also leads a musical ensemble titled Flute & Company, through which he presents collaborative concerts combining classical and contemporary music. He frequently collaborates with musicians, including percussionist Bickram Ghosh, appearing in projects such as Rhythm Scape. His experimental repertoire includes Indian adaptations of Western classical works such as Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and Beethoven’s Für Elise. His recordings and singles, including works such as Childhood, The Final Journey, and the album Krishna’s Flute, are available on major digital music platforms.
