Biography
Heiko Dijker is a tabla player, composer, and producer based in Amsterdam, trained in Hindustani classical music through the guru-shishya tradition. He studied under Shri Bhaswaraj Bhendigeri and later continued his training with Ustad Faiyaz Khan, focusing on long-term immersive practice in Indian classical music.
Alongside his traditional training, he holds a master's degree in classical tabla from the Rotterdam Conservatory. His work spans solo performance, accompaniment, composition, and music production, with recordings featuring artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Meeta Pandit, and Ravichandra Kulur.
He has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and dancers across classical and cross-genre formats, including associations with artists such as Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ustad Fariduddin Dagar, and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. His performances have been presented at venues and festivals including Royal Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Barbican Centre (London), NCPA (Mumbai), and Kamani Auditorium (New Delhi).
In addition to performance, Heiko Dijker is involved in teaching and conducting workshops at institutions and music schools, contributing to the dissemination of Indian classical music internationally.
