About Madhu Murchhana
Established in 1999, Madhu Murchhana is a leading Indian arts and culture organisation committed to promoting Indian classical music and cultural heritage. Founded by Dr Soma Ghosh, the organisation presents concerts, festivals, workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and educational programs across India. It works extensively to support young musicians, preserve endangered instruments and musical traditions, document gharana heritage, and create wider public engagement with classical arts. Through initiatives such as Sangeet Gram, music archiving projects, artist development programs, and national cultural festivals, Madhu Murchhana continues to strengthen the ecosystem of Indian classical music while connecting new generations with traditional artistic practices.
History
Founded in 1999 by classical vocalist Dr Soma Ghosh, Madhu Murchhana was established to promote Indian classical music and preserve the country's rich artistic traditions. Over the past two decades, the organisation has organised numerous concerts, workshops, and cultural festivals with support from the Ministry of Culture and other national institutions. It has led initiatives such as the revival of Darbari Mehfils, the Parampara festival dedicated to endangered instruments, the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, and the creation of Sangeet Gram for music preservation and training. Through artist welfare programs, educational outreach, cultural documentation, and heritage conservation projects, Madhu Murchhana has become an important contributor to India's classical music landscape.
