About Bhajan (Mharo Pranam)

Hum Kalaam – Face To Face is a collaborative studio album by Indian classical musicians Ustad Sultan Khan and Kamal Sabri. The label Music Today released the album on CD in 2007. The recording captures a live-in-studio interaction between Khan on sarangi and Sabri on sarod, accompanied by traditional percussion and vocal elements.

The second track, Bhajan (Mharo Pranam), spans 12 minutes and 45 seconds. The composition blends devotional lyrics with classical improvisation, featuring Sultan Khan’s vocal delivery alongside instrumental interplay. The track exemplifies the album’s fusion of North Indian classical traditions with bhajan structures. Additional session details such as the percussionists or recording location remain undocumented in available sources.

Sultan Khan (1940–2011) was a sarangi virtuoso and vocalist trained in the Indore gharana. Kamal Sabri, a sarod exponent from the Senia-Maihar gharana, contributed to the album’s instrumental arrangements. The album title Hum Kalaam translates to \"Our Words\" or \"Our Art,\" reflecting the artists’ shared exploration of raga-based compositions. Music Today, a division of India Today Group, distributed the release as part of its classical music catalog.
