Neandertal Grooves

Neandertal Grooves is a collaborative studio album by the Espoo Big Band and percussionist Trilok Gurtu. The Finnish jazz ensemble and the Indian percussionist combined elements of big band jazz, world music, and avant-garde improvisation in this project. The album released in 2001 under the EBB label in CD format.

The recording features seven original compositions that explore thematic connections to prehistoric human culture. The tracklist includes Krapina, Hymn, Dance by the Bonfire, Funeral, Runaround / Walkabout, Lake Disappointment, and Hunt.
