Biography

Pandit Vyasmurti Katti is a distinguished Hindustani classical harmonium player based in Bengaluru, widely respected for his refined accompaniment and expressive solo performances. Born in Solapur into a music-loving family, he began his musical training under Pandit Ramacharya Bagewadi, developing a strong foundation in classical music at an early age.

Although he initially pursued a professional career as an electronics engineer, Katti’s deep passion for music led him to dedicate himself fully to the classical tradition. Over the years, he has become a highly sought-after accompanist, sharing the stage with legendary vocalists such as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Dr. Gangubai Hangal, Pandit Jasraj, and Ustad Rashid Khan. His accompaniment style is known for its sensitivity, melodic clarity, and ability to enhance the depth of vocal performances.

Apart from accompaniment, Pt. Katti is also an accomplished solo harmonium performer, presenting concerts that highlight the instrument’s melodic richness and expressive potential. He is also trained in vocal music and continues to study under Pandit Indudhar Nirody of the Agra gharana. Recognized for his contributions to Indian classical music, he has received several honors, including the Kanakashri Award and the Ustad Bale Khan Sangatkaar Puraskar, and continues to perform at major festivals in India and internationally.
