Biography
Vikas Yendluri is a tabla player based in Seattle, Washington, known for his grounding in the Punjab gharana tradition and his work as an accompanist in Hindustani classical music. He began learning tabla at the age of five under the guidance of Sri Arshad Syed, building a strong technical and theoretical foundation from an early stage.
Yendluri later continued his training with the renowned tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, under whom he refined his understanding of repertoire, accompaniment, and solo presentation. His association with Zakir Hussain has included performance opportunities and direct mentorship, shaping his musical approach.
As a performer, Yendluri has accompanied a range of Indian classical musicians in concerts across North America, including artists such as Abhik Mukherjee (sitar) and Sougata Roy Chowdhury (sarod). He has appeared in festivals and curated events, including Ragas Live in Brooklyn and tribute concerts honoring the legacy of Ali Akbar Khan.
