Biography
Snehasish Mozumder (born 1967) is an Indian mandolin artist and composer associated with Hindustani classical music. He is known for adapting the mandolin to the raga-based framework and developing a performance approach that combines classical structure with elements of fusion.
He trained under musicians including Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Ajoy Sinha Roy of the Maihar Gharana, and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. His work reflects both traditional influences and contemporary interpretations.
He has performed internationally and was invited as a soloist for the Concert for George at the Royal Albert Hall, London. He also leads the ensemble “Snehasish Mozumder & SOM,” presenting collaborative and fusion-based works.
His innovations include the development of a double-neck mandolin designed for both classical and cross-genre performance contexts.
