Biography
Shruthe Raammohan is a Bharatanatyam dancer and vocalist based in Chennai, recognized for her expressive abhinaya and dynamic stage presence. Trained under her mother and guru Sasirekha Raammohan, she has further refined her artistry under the mentorship of Chitra Visweswaran. Rooted in the Vazhuvoor bani, her performances are characterized by graceful movements, sculptural poses, and strong, emotive interpretation.
A distinctive aspect of her practice is her dual role as both dancer and singer, enabling her to present abhinaya pieces with integrated musical expression. She has performed at notable platforms, including the Narthaki Studio Series in Chennai, Abhinaya Sudha at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, and international venues such as the Nehru Centre in London. Her curated initiative Chindhanā | Dance Reflections reflects her engagement with dialogue-based and collaborative performance formats.
Shruthe has received recognition through awards such as the Bharat Kalachar Natya Award and Yuva Kala Bharathi. She is closely associated with the Kanagasabai School of Bharathanatyam and is a co-founder of the Art Kin Centre. Through performance, teaching, and curation, she contributes to evolving perspectives within Bharatanatyam while maintaining a strong connection to tradition.
