India Habitat Centre

India Habitat Centre is a prominent cultural and institutional hub in New Delhi, conceived as a space to encourage interaction among individuals and organisations working in habitat-related fields. Spread across nine acres, the campus integrates performance venues, auditoria, conference spaces, art galleries, a library, and hospitality areas within a unified architectural framework.

Designed by architect Joseph Allen Stein in collaboration with Doshi and Bhalla, the centre is recognised for its approach to “ecology by design.” It accommodates a wide range of public and private activities, from cultural events and exhibitions to discussions and institutional engagements, while maintaining a balance between functionality and aesthetic coherence.

The centre regularly hosts classical music and dance performances, festivals, lectures, and interdisciplinary programmes, making it an important venue for artistic and intellectual exchange in the city. Its landscaped environment, architectural detailing, and integrated infrastructure contribute to its role as a dynamic yet serene cultural space.
