About The Nehru Centre, London

The Nehru Centre in London is located at 8 South Audley Street, Mayfair. Established in 1992, it was created to promote cultural exchange between India and the United Kingdom. Over the years, the centre has welcomed many prominent artists from both countries, helping foster a rich cultural dialogue.

The Nehru Centre is led by a director, who is also a senior diplomat with the High Commission of India in London. Its past directors have included distinguished personalities from the arts and diplomacy—such as Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the first director; noted playwright and actor Girish Karnad; and writer-diplomat Pavan Varma. Currently, the acclaimed author Amish Tripathi serves as Director of the Nehru Centre, continuing the institution’s legacy of cultural collaboration and artistic exchange.
