Biography

Rehan Ali is part of the Murad Ali Khan/Saurang Parampara lineage of sarangi training and performance. He is frequently identified within this circle as a family member and student of the tradition and is often described as a nephew of Murad Ali Khan. His musical activity is closely connected with ensemble-based sarangi presentations.

He has appeared in classical programs at venues such as the Hazrat Inayat Khan Dargah and has participated in events including the 7th Ibtida Festival (2025). In these settings, he performs alongside sarangi artists such as Murad Ali Khan, Shahnawaz Ali, Subhan Ali, and Mohd Tabish, contributing to group-based raga and thematic presentations.

Rehan Ali is also credited on the recording Surkh | Mohe Apne Hi Rang Mein | Sarangi Ensemble,” which documents the collaborative format of this parampara. His work reflects the collective performance model of the Saurang school, where multiple sarangi players perform together within a shared stylistic and pedagogical framework.
