Biography
Subhan Ali is a Delhi-based sarangi practitioner connected with the Moradabad Gharana tradition. He identifies as a student of the instrument and is in the early stages of building a public performance profile within Hindustani classical music. His musical grounding includes institutional learning in Delhi, and his work reflects a focus on raga-based performance and accompaniment.
In 2025, he presented a solo sarangi recital at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, under the Laya Manjari program. In 2023, he participated in the SaMaPa Festival, where he performed Raga Maru Bihag in a sarangi recital alongside Murad Ali Khan and Shahnawaz Ali. He has also appeared at Gangadhar Swarotsav in Pune, featuring in a presentation of Raga Purvi (Bada Khayal).
In addition to classical मंच performances, Subhan Ali has released instrumental tributes, including a sarangi cover of “Lag Ja Gale” in remembrance of Lata Mangeshkar. His activity spans both traditional raga presentation and contemporary digital sharing, reflecting the working context of a young sarangi learner and performer in India today.
