Biography

R. A. Rohith Prasad, also known as Rohith Prasad Kottayam or Ghatam Rohith Prasad, is a Carnatic percussionist recognized for his skill on the ghatam, the traditional clay pot percussion instrument widely used in South Indian classical music. Based in Kottayam, Kerala, he is part of the contemporary generation of percussionists actively contributing to the Carnatic concert circuit through collaborations with vocalists and instrumentalists.

Rohith Prasad has appeared in numerous classical music performances and festival concerts across Kerala and Chennai. He regularly participates in important cultural events such as the Chennai December Season, where many leading Carnatic musicians perform annually. His concert schedule includes appearances at respected venues and sabhas, including performances connected with the Music Academy, Madras, one of the most prominent institutions for Carnatic music.

He received formal training in percussion and has studied mridangam at the RLV College of Music and Fine Arts in Tripunithura. In recent years, Rohith Prasad has collaborated with several musicians in the Carnatic music community, including performances with vocalist Vidwan Rithvik Raja. His recent engagements include concerts at festivals such as Deepavali Sangeethothsavam and events organized at Bekal Gokulam Goushala, reflecting his growing presence within the South Indian classical music performance network.
