Pranshu Chatur Lal

Pranshu Chatur Lal is a prominent Indian tabla player and percussionist, often referred to as the “Prince of Tabla,” representing a distinguished lineage of Hindustani classical music. He is the grandson of the legendary tabla maestro Chatur Lal and received his early training from his father and guru Charanjit Chatur Lal. Beginning his musical journey at the age of four, he has developed a style rooted in tradition while incorporating contemporary influences.

Known for his dynamic and innovative approach, Pranshu seamlessly blends classical tabla with folk and modern musical elements. He has performed at major international venues such as Carnegie Hall and collaborated with leading figures, including Zakir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia, and Birju Maharaj. As the founder of Brahmaand, he has created a platform that explores experimental soundscapes by integrating Indian ragas with global rhythms.

Alongside performance, Pranshu is actively engaged in preserving and promoting his family’s musical legacy through the Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Society. He is currently leading a global initiative marking the 100th birth anniversary of his grandfather, featuring events such as the Pandit Chatur Lal Festival at Safdarjung Tomb. His contributions have been recognized with awards, including the Tabla Shiromani and Tabla Ratna, reflecting his growing influence in both classical and contemporary music spheres.
