Nishant Chandran

Dr Nishanth Chandran is a Carnatic violinist, educator, and researcher whose career spans both Indian classical music and computer science. A descendant of Tyagaraja's disciple Thillaisthanam Rama Iyengar, he trained under violin maestro Smt. A. Kanyakumari and received advanced vocal guidance from Padma Bhushan Sri P. S. Narayanaswamy. An A-Grade artiste of All India Radio, he has performed extensively across India and internationally, including appearances with Pandit Ravi Shankar's ensemble and leading Carnatic musicians at major festivals and sabhas. He has received several Best Violinist awards from institutions such as The Music Academy and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. Alongside his musical career, he holds a PhD in Computer Science from UCLA and conducts research in cryptography while continuing to promote Carnatic music through performances, education, and the Thillaisthanam Foundation.
