Makarand Hingne

Makarand Hingne’s journey in Hindustani classical music is shaped by both formal scholarship and sustained performance practice. He holds an M.A. in Music from Swami Ramanand Tirth Marathwada Vidyapeeth, Nanded, and the Sangeet Visharad qualification. Recognized for his artistic merit, he is a graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and a recipient of the Young Artist Scholarship awarded by the Department of Culture, Government of India.

Based in Pune, Makarand has built a career that moves between the concert stage and the classroom. Alongside his musical training, he holds an M.Com degree and serves as a professor at the K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research. This dual engagement reflects a balance between academic discipline and artistic practice.

As a vocalist, he performs widely across India and abroad, appearing in prestigious concerts and curated music series. His repertoire often pays homage to the legacy of masters such as Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, while remaining grounded in classical form and clarity. In February 2026, he was part of the intimate concert Amrutanubhav, a musical dialogue with Shounak Abhisheki and Abhed Abhisheki. He has also performed at platforms such as TaalChakra in Pune.

Makarand’s recorded work includes albums released by leading labels. These include Meghpakshi and Paschimecha Sanjwara with Fountain Music, Mazya Matiche Gayan with Kusumagraj Pratishthan, and Ramraksha with Times Music. His music is available on digital platforms, including tracks such as Shri Ramraksha Stotra and collaborations with Shounak Abhisheki. Based on his compositions, Mumbai Doordarshan has broadcast special programs presenting him as a featured musician.
