Biography

Jyotirmoy Banerjee is a harmonium player, performing artist, composer, and music director whose life has been shaped by music from an early age. His first lessons came at home from his parents, Sri Jayanta Banerjee and Smt. Nibedita Banerjee, who nurtured his foundation and discipline. This early grounding led him to Shrutinandan, where he received advanced training under Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.

Along his journey, he was guided by respected teachers such as Smt. Soma Banerjee and Sri Pradip Chatterjee. Today, he continues as a senior scholar under Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty’s mentorship, refining both technique and musical understanding. His training spans vocal as well as instrumental music, giving him a wide artistic vision. Within this broad learning, the harmonium became his chosen voice, allowing him to blend melody, rhythm, and emotion with balance.

Jyotirmoy has performed alongside eminent artists on major stages across India and abroad. His playing is valued for its sensitivity, support to the main performer, and clear musical thought. As a composer and music director, he contributes to productions where music shapes narrative and mood.
