Divakar Kashyap

Dr. Divakar Kashyap is a Hindustani classical vocalist associated with the Banaras Gharana. He frequently performs alongside his brother Dr. Prabhakar Kashyap, and together they are known as the Kashyap Bandhu, particularly for their jugalbandi (duet) presentations and vocal gayaki.

Their concert repertoire includes classical ragas such as Megh, Maru Bihag, Todi, and Malkauns, along with semi-classical forms like Tappa and Dadra. They are disciples of Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra, from whom they received guidance in the Hindustani vocal tradition.

The duo was awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2020) by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for their contribution to vocal music.

Apart from performing, Dr. Divakar Kashyap is engaged in academics. He serves as an assistant professor at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (IKSV), Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh. He is also academically trained, holding credentials from HP University Shimla, where he was a gold medalist.
