Charudutt Fadke

Charudatta Phadke began learning tabla at a young age in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, under the guidance of Majgaokar and Rajaram Jadhav. His advanced musical development has taken place under the long-term tutelage of Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, with whom he has worked closely for over a decade, accompanying him in various performances.

His performance career spans solo recitals, accompaniment for vocalists, instrumentalists, and dancers, and participation in thematic projects. He was part of Taalyatra, a rhythm-based project conceptualized by Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, and performed under this initiative in Bangkok. Since 2000, he has been involved in a Kathak–Flamenco collaboration, conceived as a cultural exchange between India and Spain.

Phadke has appeared in concerts across India and in several European countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He has accompanied artists such as Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Ustad Shahid Parvez, and Pandita Rohini Bhate. His work also includes participation in cross-cultural projects with Chinese and Japanese ensembles and involvement in initiatives such as the World Peace Project.

He has received recognitions, including the V. D. Paluskar Award and the Taalmani Award. Since 2000, he has been associated with the Music Ensemble of Benares. Through performance, collaboration, and long-term mentorship, Charudatta Phadke’s career reflects both continuity with classical tabla traditions and engagement with contemporary intercultural contexts.
