Rang
About Rang
Rang is a collaborative studio recording in the Hindustani–Carnatic fusion tradition released on August 2, 2020. The album emerged from a partnership between tabla virtuoso Bickram Ghosh, violinist Kala Ramnath, and veena exponent Rajhesh Vaidhya. True Music distributed the project exclusively in digital formats.
The album comprises a single extended composition titled Rang, spanning 5 minutes and 31 seconds. The track synthesizes North and South Indian classical elements, with Ghosh anchoring the rhythmic framework on tabla, Ramnath contributing melodic phrasing on violin, and Vaidhya layering veena textures. The recording session location and production personnel remain undocumented in available sources.
Ghosh co-founded the Rhythmscapes festival and previously collaborated with artists across global fusion genres. Ramnath, a disciple of the Mewati gharana, received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2011 for her violin innovations. Vaidhya, a seventh-generation veena player, integrated Carnatic techniques with contemporary arrangements in prior works like The Veena Virtuoso (2018). The trio’s collective output on Rang marks their first recorded collaboration under the True Music imprint.
Critical reception and commercial performance data for the release are not publicly archived. The album cover art features abstract geometric patterns in earth tones, designed by an uncredited artist. No physical editions or alternate mixes were issued.
