Raga:Yaman (Aalap, Jor & Jhala)

Sunset is a studio album of North Indian classical music released on April 20, 2010, under the Aimrec label. The recording features a single extended composition in Raga Yaman, performed by sitarist Anjan Chattopadhyay and tabla player Enayet Hossain. The album appeared exclusively in CD format.

The sole track spans 28 minutes and 56 seconds and follows the traditional alap-jor-jhala structure. Chattopadhyay opens with an unmetered alap that explores the raga’s melodic contours. The performance transitions into jor, where rhythmic pulse emerges without fixed tempo, and culminates in the fast-paced jhala section. Hossain accompanies on tabla, providing percussive dialogue and rhythmic foundation throughout the improvisation.

The album title Sunset reflects the raga’s association with evening performances in the Hindustani tradition. Aimrec produced the recording, though additional session details or alternate takes remain undocumented. No liner notes or supplementary materials accompanied the commercial release.
