Our Heritage
About Our Heritage
Trilok Gurtu released Remembrance on October 28, 2002, as a studio album under the Meta Records label. The album features a fusion of Indian classical percussion with contemporary jazz and world music elements. Gurtu composed and arranged the tracks while collaborating with guest musicians on select pieces.
The fourth track, Our Heritage, runs for 4 minutes and 44 seconds. Gurtu performs on percussion instruments including the tabla, frame drums and synthesized textures. The composition blends rhythmic patterns derived from Indian classical traditions with ambient soundscapes. The album’s production incorporates layered percussion, electronic effects and melodic motifs that reflect Gurtu’s cross-genre approach.
Critical reception of Remembrance noted its experimental fusion of acoustic and electronic components. The album’s tracklist includes nine original works, with Our Heritage serving as a mid-album highlight. No additional details about the recording sessions, specific instrumentation or contributing artists for this track are publicly documented.
