Debashish Bhattacharya contributed his signature Hindustani slide guitar technique, while Bob Brozman integrated elements of blues, Hawaiian, and global slide traditions. Mahima marked the first full-length collaboration between Bhattacharya and Brozman, following their initial live performances in the late 1990s. The album cover art features a photograph of both guitarists in performance, with Bhattacharya playing his custom-made chaturangui (a 22-string slide guitar) and Brozman using a National Reso-Phonic steel guitar. Critical reception of Mahima highlighted the track’s interplay between Bhattacharya’s gayaki ang (vocal-style phrasing) and Brozman’s percussive slide techniques. The album entered distribution in Europe and North America through World Music Retailers Association networks, though exact sales figures were not disclosed. Subsequent live renditions of Bahu Dur Dur appeared in the duo’s 2004–2005 concert tours, including performances at the Lotus World Music Festival and the Rainforest World Music Festival.
