About Madrasil Margazhi 2006

Madrasil Margazhi 2006 is a live Carnatic music album by vocalist T. M. Krishna. The performance occurred during the 2006 Margazhi season in Chennai and was released officially on CD in 2007 under the label Rajalakshmi Audio.

The album captures an 11-track concert featuring traditional compositions in the Carnatic repertoire. The recording opens with Celimikori, a varnam in the raga Bhairavi. Subsequent tracks include Alakalella in Sindhubhairavi>, Brocevarevarura in Khamas, and Anandesvarena in Pantuvarali. The performance also includes a Ragam Tanam Pallavi segment, a centerpiece of extended improvisation in Carnatic concerts. Other notable compositions are Garuda Gamana in Shanmukhapriya, Mahisanthi Murthim in Saveri, and Dasarathi Ni in Gowla. The concert concludes with Navasiddhi Petralum, Adi Nipai, and a Mangalam invocation.

The album format preserves the sequential flow of a full-length Carnatic recital, including alapana, neraval, and kalpana swaram sections where applicable. The release date of the CD aligns with the 2007 Margazhi festival period, though specific recording venues or accompanying artists remain undocumented in available sources. Rajalakshmi Audio distributed the physical edition without additional liner notes or alternate versions.
