Vikas Belukar

Vikas Belukar, often known as Vikas Maharaj Belukar or Vikas Dada Belukar, is an Indian classical percussionist recognized for his work as a pakhawaj player. Based in Maharashtra, he is particularly associated with the Varkari kirtan tradition, where the pakhawaj plays a central role in devotional musical performances. Through his performances and teaching activities, he contributes to the preservation and continuation of traditional pakhawaj repertoire and rhythmic practice.

Belukar is known for presenting pakhawaj solo recitals, chautal performances, and accompaniment in classical and devotional music settings. His playing style emphasizes traditional compositions, rhythmic improvisation, and structured tala exploration. He has also presented jugalbandi performances with other percussionists, including collaborations with artists such as Sudarshan Maharaj Pole, and has accompanied several kirtankars, including Mauli Maharaj Bhandare.

Alongside his performance career, Vikas Belukar is active as a teacher and mentor. He runs the Taalvikas Pakhawaj Academy in Nashik, where he trains students in the techniques and repertoire of pakhawaj and mridang. In addition to in-person training, he also shares performances and educational content through digital platforms, including his YouTube channel and social media presence, helping to reach a wider audience interested in Indian classical percussion traditions.
