V. Selvaganesh

V. Selvaganesh's career combines performance, composition, and mentorship. A master of the Kanjira and mridangam, he has created an artistic identity rooted in traditional rhythm while constantly exploring new musical possibilities. His collaborations with international artists—including Jonas Hellborg, Shawn Lane, and world-music ensembles—have helped bring the sound of South Indian percussion to wider audiences.

He is an important part of the celebrated band Shakti, contributing to their distinctive sound. The ensemble received the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album, marking an achievement for Indian classical music on the world stage. Alongside live performance, Salvaganesh has composed music for films such as Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and also made his directorial debut with the Tamil short film Bodhai, for which he created the soundtrack.
