Tarun R. Lala is an Indian classical tabla player known for his performances in the Hindustani classical music tradition. He received advanced training under renowned tabla maestros Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar and Pandit Shubhankar Banerjee, developing a strong foundation in traditional tabla repertoire and performance practice. His playing reflects the stylistic influence of the Farukhabad gharana, known for its balanced approach to clarity, rhythm, and expressive compositions.
As a solo performer, Tarun R. Lala has presented tabla recitals at several classical music platforms and festivals. Among his notable appearances is the Yuva Tabla Utsav organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra, where he performed traditional compositions, including relas associated with the legacy of Pandit Anokhe Lal Mishra. His solo presentations highlight the technical and rhythmic complexity of tabla through compositions such as peshkar, kayda, rela, and tihai.
In addition to solo performances, Tarun R. Lala is an active accompanist in Hindustani classical concerts. He has collaborated with a range of musicians, including Harsh Narayan (sarangi) in raga recitals and Shri Satish Vyas (santoor) at cultural events organized by institutions such as SPIC MACAY.
