Biography
Sumith Naik is an Indian classical tabla player with formal training and academic grounding in Hindustani music. He is a disciple of Shri Naveen Pai and Dr. Udayaraj Kapoor, and completed his postgraduate studies at the Dr. Gangubai Hangal University of Music & Performing Arts, Mysore. His performance career includes appearances at concerts across the country, where he has accompanied established musicians such as Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Pt. Arun Khashalkar, Pt. Sudhakar Devie, Pt. Nityanand Haldipu, Pt. Venkitesh Kumar, and Pt. Jayteerth Mevundi.
In addition to performance, Sumith has been involved in music education. He previously served as Faculty in Music at Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore, and is currently a permanent faculty member at Bharateey Sangeet Vidyalay (BSV), Kochi, Kerala. His work reflects sustained engagement with both performance and pedagogy within Indian classical music.
