About
Biography
Subhadeep Kumar Biswas (also known as Guru Subhadeep Biswas) is an Indian classical musician specializing in Hindustani vocal music and harmonium. He is currently based in Singapore, where he serves as a faculty member at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), one of the region’s established institutions for Indian classical arts.
He began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, Dilip Kumar Biswas, and later received formal harmonium training from Jyoti Goho. His vocal training developed under Sandip Bhattacharjee of the Kirana gharana, and he continues to refine his music under Tanmay Deochake. This lineage reflects a strong grounding in raga-based classical tradition, with attention to sur (intonation) and melodic development.
Alongside his musical career, he holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MAKAUT, indicating a parallel academic background.
As a teacher, he trains students in Hindustani vocals at SIFAS. His pedagogical work is reflected in student achievements, including competition successes by his disciples. As a performer, he presents solo vocal recitals and also appears as a harmonium accompanist for classical concerts in Singapore, including performances at major venues such as the Esplanade.
