Siddhartha Chatterjee

Shri Sidhartha Chatterjee was born into a family with deep roots in Indian classical music, and his journey with the tabla began under the guidance of his father, Shri Rabindra Nath Chatterjee. His early musical grooming was further strengthened through training with the legendary Pandit Kanailal Bhattacharya and his son, Taalrang Biplab Bhattacharya, which helped shape his strong foundation in rhythm and technique.

Closely associated with the Farukhabad Gharana, founded by Haji Vilayat Hussain Khan Sahib, Sidhartha Chatterjee works actively to preserve and present the gharana’s traditional repertoire while bringing freshness to the instrument. Known for his clear sound production and refined rhythmic control, he has established himself as a respected soloist as well as an accomplished accompanist.

He has shared the stage with eminent artists such as Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Sri Mousumi Bhattacharya, Pandit Shyamal Lahiri, Pandit Sanjay Chakraborty, Ustad Mujtaba Hussain, and many other senior musicians and dancers. His performances have taken place at prestigious venues and festivals, including Ramkrishna Mission Belur Math, Gayatri Music Circle Chennai, Patna Gurupurnima Mahotsav, Anuranan Music Festival Pune, Bhai Mardana Music Festival Patiala, and Sangeet Natak Academy Chandigarh.

A graded artist of All India Radio, he has received several honors, such as Sangeet Ratan, Taal Sadhak Samman, Bhatkhande Sangeet Samman, and Kala Chakra Churamani Samman. Through sustained performance, collaboration, and dedication to tradition, Shri Sidhartha Chatterjee continues to make a meaningful contribution to the world of Indian classical tabla.
