Biography
Shruti Sadolikar Katkar is a Hindustani classical vocalist associated with the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, known for her work in khayal singing and exploration of rare ragas. Born into a musical family, she received her initial training from her father, Pandit Wamanrao Sadolikar, and later trained under Gulubhai Jasdanwala, developing a repertoire grounded in traditional compositions.
Her performance practice includes khayal along with semi-classical forms such as thumri, tappa, and natya sangeet. She has presented concerts across India and internationally and is recognized for her interpretation of complex raga structures and preservation of traditional compositions within the Jaipur-Atrauli lineage.
In addition to performance, she has contributed to music education and research, holding academic qualifications in music and working in institutional roles, including Vice Chancellor of Bhatkhande Music Institute University. She is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, reflecting her contribution to Hindustani classical vocal music.
