Biography

Shriram Hasabnis is an Indian harmonium player and accompanist in the field of Hindustani classical music. Born into a musical family, he began his early training under the guidance of his father, Shri Suresh Hasabnis. His musical education also included formal training in Hindustani classical vocal music under the late Pt. G. V. Dandekar of the Gwalior gharana. His artistic foundation was further shaped through the influence of Sangeetacharya Pt. D. V. Kanebuwa of Ichalkaranji, helping him develop a strong understanding of raga-based performance traditions.

Hasabnis later specialized in harmonium through intensive training in the guru–shishya tradition under the renowned harmonium maestro Padma Shri Pt. Tulsidas Borkar. This mentorship played a significant role in shaping his musical approach, particularly his ability to present the gayaki ang (vocal style) on the harmonium. His performances are noted for their melodic clarity, sensitivity to raga expression, and the ability to support vocal and instrumental performances with subtle musical accompaniment.

With more than two decades of performance experience, Shriram Hasabnis has appeared at numerous classical music concerts and festivals in India and internationally. In addition to presenting solo harmonium recitals such as SurSamvadini, he has performed a wide range of ragas, including Dhanashri, Poorvi, and Basant. He is also widely recognized as an accompanist, collaborating with leading Hindustani classical vocalists and instrumentalists at major concerts and music conferences.
